Help a Newbie - S5 J-Specs and other Questions

I'm getting ready to purchase a bone-stock 1990 GTU ($900), and I've been trying to think of performance mods. I've gone thru the major things, Turbo Swap, V8 Swap, etc. The only one that seemed economically feasible is a J-Spec. However, I DON'T want to go Turbo. This will be an everyday driver for a student, and a main vehicle. So I need the reliability of an N/A. However I would like to get more performance out of it.

Well, upon reading about J-Specs, (and talking to my friend Brandon, 1991 GXL, mostly stock) the consensus is that the only reason they are more powerful is because in Japan, they have no Emissions. So wouldn't I get the same benefits by taking the Emissions-gear off? ( No testing in my state, or any state I intend on living in)

Also, what all small/cheap mods are there? TB, EGR, etc. I know there are MANY posts, but I've searched and can't find one that relates to N/A Mods (being new to the rotary, it's hard to distinguish between N/A and T2 mods). So, if anyone has them bookmarked, and has nothing better to do, post them please.

Dude, all J spec engines are turbo. A turbo engine with no turbo will be slower than an NA engine due to lower compression rotors.

Then the only other option is building up the N/A. Streetporting, and other things.

Even still, I'd like more info on other things, EGR, TB, Porting, ETC
