help needed, dimmer and illum lights

ok so my problem is a bit unique, i have an 88 gxl that burnt the light switch, not so bad, but i did a heavy duty light switch mod and got it all working again. theres now no w/g wire going to the switch, the red is jumpered to the w/g to give it power. 4 months later every thing is ok but i was working on some other things and crossed some stuff and fried my switch more, the headlights work, the markers work, cluster light and center lights do not.

now for the problem. i fixed the switch and all other wires back in place, great cluster lights up again, no more that 2 min pass, cluster goes out, i smell the switch burning, its hot. im thinking that the first time i fixed it i only fixed half the problem and it had been weakened somewhere and took that out after receiving load again. i have a good switch from my tii but no way do i want to put it in the gxl incase im wrong and its gets fried too.

is there a way a can remove the load of the cluster and essentially run it off a second relay activated by the first heavy duty relay that controls the markers? how many amps are the cluster lights supposed to get? say dimmer all the way up. and id assume 12v.

anyway any help is greatly appreciated, this is my daily and driving at night is not fun when you cant see how fast(or slow) your going.

thanks

i think the switch might have fried you might need another. and the mod you did how did you remove the white green wire all together? whose write up did you look up to make the harness a "heavy duty" one...theres has got to be a load happening somewhere.
