Help needed car will not start - electrical
Recently purchased a project car (FC 1986 NA 5 Speed)
I searched under the forums as much as I could but still can't find out how to get this car started. Starter and ignition system works well. Fresh battery, new ecu ground wire, checked coils and put new plugs, checked fuses, new fuel pump, filter and lines, did all the basics.
After checking under the intake manifold I found that one of the fuel injector cables was cut and the wires were twisted together and bound together by electrical tape and a new injector cable was placed on these wires, this is ridiculous because the wires touched each other and the car drove like this. The previous owner said it just died while driving and never started again. But the car will crank. Help is much needed.
My question is
Would the two injector cable wires touching each other damage the electrical system of the car?
How would one hunt down the electrical problem?
Noticed that after I put everything back together interior lights won't work anymore (gauges etc.)
Also
I noticed that one of the original injector cables does not reach and is just laying under the intake not being used. I believe its one of the original cables because it is the same color as the secondary injectors (yellow) the odd cut rigged cable is red and that does not seem right(there are three primary injector cables). Originally I thought it was alot of other things but Im pretty sure I have narrowed it down to the ecu and the injector cables. Because I get spark and I probably get fuel but can't tell because of primary injectors, and I should have air so what else?
How would I go about fixing the injector cables/ecu or troubleshooting them? Would buying a new harness help?
Thanks
