Exclamation help with n/a turbo swap

well here is the problem i have a 88 rx7 se and the turbo motor is from a 88 10th ae so i take the ecu harness and the the long block. well i didn't get the cpu harness cause i didn't think that i would need it. now it seems like the fuel is cutting off. cause it will rev like it does with cold start up to 3000 and then i give it a little gas and then it dies down and shuts off. so i have the solenoid resistor and i have no where to plug it up to. it has 2 wires that are........

blue with red stripe

2 more that are

solid blue

1 black with white stripe

1 green with red stripe

that is the only thing that i can think of that i didn't hook up.
also i am running the n/a fuel pump. should i change that with a turbo one or could i run it with the n/a till i get a walbro255. thanks for any help. and also how could i use the stock boost gauge. thanks.....

it is your fuel pump, you have to switch to a s4 or s5 TII. I'd say buy a walbro from ebay 89$ brand new. DId you get a TII knock sensor and hook it up?

oh so it is just not making enough fuel for the car to run. yeah i did also hook up the tII knock sensor. so then i relly don't have to hook up the solenoid resistor?

I HIGHLY doubt it's the fuel pump.

Technically you can still run a NA fuel pump but you would be more apt to max it out when going into boost.

It sounds like your car starts up then rev's up to 3k and dies out right?
If so then it is most likely your AFM. If it is unplugged or bad it will cause the car to start up and then die off. I think it has something to do with the fuel pump connection/wire in the AFM.

I would recommend a TII or Walbro pump before you start boosting though.
I would also recommend to put a Fuel pressure gauge inline so you can see your pressures.
My Walbro is killing off my pressure regulator and I'm doing 50psi as it's base rate.

Better off running rich than lean on a turbo car though.

see i thought that you could run a n/a fuel pump. i don't plan on maxing the boost out till i get a walbro and a aftermarket boost gauge. i just used the stock turboII afm and i just plugged in the one connector for it. it just seems like that there is something that is cutting the fuel cause it revs to 3k and then i can rev it like twice and then it will just die out i can never hold or get it to idle at all. any ideas on the wire that connects to the afm on the fuel pump.

not sure do a search for AFM and fuel.

A possible item could be timing if touching the throttle kills it off.
or maybe something else like TPS but your better of searching with some key words like fuel start and stop/dies

Probably vacuum leaks. Can you hold it at a specific RPM once it's started and not letting it fall under 3k?

I'd say it is the computer, how is your NA computer suppost to adjust for boost in your fuel curves when it was not designed to.

I'd say your car is doing you a favor by not letting you drive it. I am thinking dead engine in your future if this problem is not fixxed...

Constructive help: No vaccume leaks, AFM, CAS, or TPS, it really is the only thing that keeps them running.

well i think that i have it figured out. well my conclusion is that since my n/a cpu side harness was never equiped to handle the fuel pump relay resistor is that i have to just rewire the fuel pump. i am going to try to use this diagram here.

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...chmentid=67856

i think that is why my car starts fine and then all of a sudden it just cuts off. jmo. i hope that this works. also i did just the fuel pump to make sure that it works and everything tested out fine.

Hmm doesn't sound like it to me.

I have a S4 TII ECU and S4 TII EFI harness(passenger side)
I have kept the NA interior and drivers side main harness.

I didn't have to touch anything in my fuel system other than putting in a Walbro which was a direct drop in.

The only things I cut on the TII EFI harness was 2-3 wires for the temperature and voltage guages on the cluster. I also had to add a wire in for the back of the alternator since TII's have the plug on the drivers side while NA's are on the EFI side.

If you still have your NA AFM plug that in and see if it works. The AFMS are interchangable between NA/TII so you can use it as a variable to eliminate one guess to your problem.

Oh and check your fuel pump relay under your drivers side dash. Maybe it went bad and isn't working?

ok well i will swap the afm and i don't know why the fuel pump relay would go bad cause it worked with my n/a. i will test it though. i thought that i had to have the fuel pump resistor relay to make it work i will swap the afm and then post what happens.

oh also i have the same as you do

have a S4 TII ECU and S4 TII EFI harness(passenger side)
I have kept the NA interior and drivers side main harness.

i already swapped the alternator plug over. i haven't yet did the wires for the temp gauge though. would that be causing my problems????? i also installed a tII fuel pump too.
