Help with my new AGXs!
Help with my new AGXs!
So hears the deal, today, after several frozen bolts and a hand full of headaches, I replaced all 4 struts and springs with AGXs and racing beat springs. I get everything bolted together and torqued down, and lower the jack to see my rear strut pistons protruding from my speaker towers!
I looked at the diagram in the FSM and I really couldnt see anything I was missing. I did not replace the strut tops, but did buy new bump stops. I am not totally sure How the rear struts work with the strut top. I just hope nothings broken. The car is back on jack stands waiting for tomorrow to fix it, but how?

There is a disc that goes in the rear assembly it has hole in the middle that is cut to fit over the semi-circular top part of ther strut rod but it wont allow the rest of the rod to pass through. Chances are when you replaced the bumpstops you removed this disc and did not put it back on. Don't ask me how I know....
My camera is in my car which is in my friends garage. I was too pissed/frustrated to think to take pictures. the car was riding on the rear springs. the strut came through the center of the strut top. Thing is, when jacked it up, it looked just like it should??? Im just going to tear them down tomorrow and look at the FSM on a laptop. One thing I know, after I tightened down the top nut, the strut top wasnt tight. Is that normal? Also the top metal circle had a lot of play, but it wasnt like old rubber flexing, just space. So Im guessing I pulled some spacer/bushing that I assumed was part of the old bump stop. Ill try to take pictures tomorrow.

That piece isnt installed if the strut is coming thru the top piece. It is the only thing that holds it down. Make sure yours didnt somehow break or round off. The piece should just look like a D shaped eyelet.
If I am thing of the part you ar talking, it is smaller than the diameter of the hole in the strut tower. I dont know what is supposed to hold this to the strut top. I know the D shaped I-let piece is the top most piece listed in the FSM.

I just remembered something after re-reading this.... you are right that piece in NOT the issue... the reason I had had trouble with that is that I had rounded off one of them durring dis-assembly the second time. The piece you are missing is the metal cap on the end of the bumpstop... THAT is the piece that I left out and caused this issue... sorry for the mis-information!
the cap is labeled 28-020 in the drawing.
Got it fixed! Im pretty sure it was the piece RoughRex just mentioned. It was fuzed to my old bumpstop and i mistakenly threw them aside as garbage. After I put those back on, no more antenae struts. Thing rides great now. A helluva better.
I couldnt believe the condition of my old struts. Those things were destroyed. Also, I really like the new ride heighth of the Racing Beat springs. Not too low for gravel roads and not stock lol.
