HELP!! Is my motor blown???

My car is in the shop for differental mount and to have all the hoes's and belts changed.It wouldn't start so the shop did the atf trick and changed the oil.They drove it and now it's over heating.....could it have ruined the motor?? Is it common to overheat??My car is a 86 base model.

.MANY folks here are against the MMO or ATF trick for fear of damage to the seals. get yourself an pressure tester and see if you blew the cumbustion o ring (pressure in coolant system) If so, get it fixed sooner rather than later. coolant in combustion chambers will begin to pit the surfaces of the end housings

The aforementioned pressure tester would be a compression tester, but that wont help you if youve blown an o-ring.

Use this like from our buddy Aaron Cake to T-shoot your cooling system.

Wrong rat, I said and meant pressure tester ie a stant cooling system pressure tester.
