Exclamation HELP!!!! Miss and Compression Problem

I'm having a miss and compression problem.

My car lost all its power one night, then two days later it came back but not all the way, not it runs on about 95%.

I checked and tested everything and the only thing i could find wrong was the rear cylinder has a couple low bumps on the compression gage.

According to the book, this means an apex seal is faulty.

Someone told me that its a collapsed spring.

They said that when carbon builds up on the apex seals, is presses them down so u lose compression. I don't know.

Is this true?

Then i was told the way to fix it was to pour transmission fluid into the cylinder and let it sit for a couple days, then do this a couple more times.

It is supposed to soak into the carbon and the seal and break it free, returning it back to full compression.

Is this true?

Does anyone know anything about this?

Is a collapsed spring what they mean when they say a seal is bad?

Help me out please!

Thanks
James

you r talking about the ATF (auto tranny fluid) treatment, i would only do this as a last resault (motor won't start). what were the compression #? sorry thats all i can help you with right now, do a search on ATF, and u will find a couple of threads on how to do it

The apex seals are pressed against the housings by springs. Weak/stuck springs, the seal does not stay in solid contact with the housing, causing loss of compression. Some will put a combination of ATF & kerosene in, let sit turn engine, let sit, turn engine let sit. Blow out, then start.
This naturally, will not correct a mechanical failure eg crack/worn seals.

Well, depending on your compression numbers you might have to get a rebuild. Come back to use with some numbers and we'll be able to help you out more. What are the numbers for each side of each rotor (not cylinder/pistons )
