Help me diagnos this problem and get the new TII running right!
I just recently swapped in a s4 TII engine in my s4 na, but the jspec i bought had a s5 intk manifold and tb. So i am not running a tps sensor. I also dont have a varialbe resistor pack b/c my car used to be carberated. I need to know if I bought these parts (tb and variable resistor) would this stop my problem of my car not idling. It will start up but then die off. I cant even keep it alive w/ the gas pedal. If i kill the fuel pump it runs for longer but eventually dies off from lack of fuel. Even when im driving it, it will stumble and die but if i hit the fuel pump kill switch will run fine. What other components could cause this problem? Also can you mount a s4 tps on a s5 tb? If not would anyone be interested in trading tb's or selling my a variable resistor from their parts car? Thanks So much,
Chris

You should get at least a TII fuel pump if you havent already. the 550CC injectors off the TII motor will burn up an N/A fuel pump in a heart beat. No TPS, that is your idle problem right there man, the ECU doesnt know the throttles position so its just dumping fuel, taking it away, playign with it.. and has no idea what the **** is going on. the variable resistor would help too, unless you are running an S-AFC. The variable resistor is what rough tunes the mixture at idle. With the combo of the TPS confussing the ECU and the variable resistor not there to set the mixture.. there is no telling what your A/F mixture looks like. Someone correct me if im wrong.
Oh yeah, i have a variable resistor ill sell to you off my 87 Base, im not sure how it will work with your S5 TII motor, but if it'll work ill gladly sell it to you. 25 shipped

Just curious. Does your new engine have the same impedence injectors as your old engine? If you have not already, check and make sure they are the same as the old engine as far as resistance goes.
Just this morning I found out what happens if you disconnect the variable resistor while the engine is idling. I had a air/fuel ration of 13.2 to one but when I pulled the plug the ratio went to 11 to one. Full rich. Car still idled fine though. This reading was taken with on airpump or acv.

Thank god...I was wondering if Id ever figure this out. I have tried hooking up the tps on the s5 tb with just the plunger one and splicing the right color wires and it doesnt seem to make a difference. Do you actually run the s5 tps with the s4 ecu? Is anyone sure this will work? I have the TII fuel pump and my injectors are 12.5 ohm ones--and the ecu is from an 88 TII that had the same impedence injectors, so that shouldnt be an issue. Also if the s5 tps wont work, can you mount a s4 tps on the s5 tb? Thanks for the help,
Chris

O yeah one more thing the car smell like its runnin a little rich, but the a/f ratio gauge says its only slightly rich and doesnt seem to get much richer as its stubling/dying, but im told that those gauges dont arent really accurate unless your actually driving/idling at a constant rate.
