Sounds like bad bearings to me. If you grip the top off the tire and push in and pull out, can you feel movement, and hear a slight clunk? If so, its bearings.

Sounds to me like you threw a balance weight - an out of balance wheel can cause MASSIVE shaking

Check your lugnuts first. They could be loose. Give me a call when you read this.

i pushed the wheel in and out at the top and from side to side. no noticeable movement. this isnt a tire balance weight because it only starts at around 60 mph and it is very severe and causes the back end to step out a bit

It can very well be a balance issue. Check on the inside and outside of the rim around the lip. Are there any weights there? Can you see a spot where there was a weight ?
This sounds like the most likely problem. Although it's usually not as severe as you describe.
Switch your rear right tire to your front left and go drive it and see if it changes to the front. If so you just need to get your tire balanced.

Diff mount will make a clunking noise when starting from a stop and shifting gears. The diff will stabilise when cruising or normal acceleration.

i know it isnt the wheel weights. thereis one on the outside (a very small one and i didnt check the inside but it wouldnt cuase it to be this severe. and it wouldnt cause it to do it only when i approach 60

let me list all of the symptoms my suspension has that might help figure this out

heres another idea, if the car shakes when slowing down to it could have something to do with the brakes, i forgot whats its called but something may be outta wack which causes the shaking. Cause i had the same problem. Id slow down and it would shake, then id go to speed up and at around 50-60 it woild shake for awhile the go away. So id look more towards the brake area. let me know how it looks.

oops didnt mean to post that yet

at high speed my car usually tries to step out a little bit in the back. i thought this was due to the "AWS" but now i doubt that. when i start off sometimes, not all the time, the back end will jump up and down very similar to this and then smooth out. it started acting up earlier today.then stopped. when it got severe as i was driving down the road after i stopped and started again i didnt notice that symptom on start up.

when i hit a bump at speed it sort of "triggers" it and it starts to shake like hell. right before this started to happen my car was kicking out to the right a little more than usual but i didnt think anything of it.

hope this helps

It can very well be a balance prob - It gets alot worse at certian speeds becauce of HARMONICS! Try the wheel in a diferent location (ie front) and if the Vibration moves with it it is the tire/wheel causing the prob.

the brake rotors arent warped, well they are a little but this is a very severe shaking, i had to turn around and come back it was so bad, i thought the car was gonna fall apart right there or at least i would lose control. this isnt any minor irritating shaking it is a "knock your teeth out" shaking.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't AWS, the Accelerated Warmup Solenoid that causes are cars to idle at 3k for 17 seconds when the car starts?

in a word - HARMONICS the out of balance wheel was vibrating in HARMONY WITH the natural Freq. of the rear suspension and causing the vibration to be GREATLY AMPLIFIED - that freq will be different on the front suspension -get all your Tires/Wheels balanced - the balance changes as tires wear and the should be re-balanced each time they are rotated.

yep tire shaking from wheel balance depends on the speed, the faster you go, the faster the tire is spining, so the worse the shake is, they normaly start to shake around 50-60 miles. but normaly you don't feel it on a back tire too much, way more on the front. I'd be surprised if it was the wheel balence if it did go away after the swap, I think it would have gotten worse in the front. it might have been the lug nuts...
