Help this FC n00b!

Hey all, I'm buying an 86 GXL for $800 and I was wondering how much it would be to do a complete TII swap. I can do the labor myself and probably just need someone to do the wiring for me. If there's any place that you guys know if where I can get the parts, please let me know. I am mechanically capable but I need to price this out before I decide. If it's too expensive I'll just stick with the NA for now and save up for a real TII.

Jaime

PS. Thanks in advance

Save up for a real TII. For the following reasons.
Stronger drive train
better cooling
wiring is already there
bigger wheels and aero package

A: He'd have to replace the drivetrain anyways
B: Sans the intercooler fact, it does?
C: True that
D: Looks...

ur not doing this because of initial D right? lol. ok any ways ur going to spend as much money in the t2 swap as for the cost of a real t2. jdm engine about 1000 or 1500(i know a place for 900)
ecu in ebay about 100.
t2 tranny if u want to be boosting a lot about 100 or more.
sensors for be it came out for 150.
the diff came about 100.
counterweight it came out to 10 cuz i know a guy. :-)

i did all of this then i sold my it cuz in my town theres some initial d posers. i got a 88 gxl , im gona do another swap but i want to keep it n/a. n/a sounds better i think.

Well he does have an 86... the lightest model (year wise). Not a bad candidate for a swap

Ya know..... I actually bought one of those Initial D ZipZap's at Radio Shack because it was a micro, remot controlled FC!! I love the thing! I chase my cat everywhere with it. I have to repaint it black though to match my car!!!!

Here is my opinion... get the N/A for 800 bux... then see if rotary is really for you!! Then, get a TII with a blow motor for cheap and build THAT car up!!!

I'm not a big fan of the N/A TII swaps.. its a big enough pain modding a TII let alone doin all that other crap.

I fact, i whish i still had my 89 GTU as a daily driver, that car was a lot more fun, it wasn't as fast, didn't have the cool factor, but you got in it ans drove... i never did anything to it but replace the clutch and add a cool air box and it ran great. I just got tired of getting beat by mny third gen buddies all the time!!!! (one of them still has my number, but he's got 40K in his car!!!)
