HELP fast cleaning BAC valve a quick question

i am cleaning my BAC valve right now i followed these directions http://www.fc3spro.com/TECH/PROBLEMS/EM/bac.htm my question is once i spray the lubricant inside of the BAC it says you can plug it in by using wire and the battery terminals does it matter which wire i ground and which one go's to the positive i dont want to wire the wires up wrong and have my valve short out and break

Polarity does not matter.

But it's MUCH simpler to just connect the bac to it's electrical pulg (bac already being removed from the manifold), and turn the key to ON. The bac will vibrate as it normally does. Spray carb cleaner in and dump....repeatedly.
