Help! Factory S5 Boost Gauge issues
Hi,
I have tried seaching the web but could not find the answer's I am looking for. When driving the car and I give it gas the boost gauge( Factory one in cluster ) barely goes past 0. I'm not sure if the gauge is not working correctly or if my turbo is going bad. Also, how far past 0 should the gauge read ? The car is all stock and has factory exhaust. Doesnt really pin u in the seat . Thanks for the help !!

hook an external pressure gauge up teed to the pressure sensor vacuum line and drive the car while monitoring the boost level. if it matches your stock gauge then you have something going on with the intake and or exhaust, possibly a failing catalytic converter limiting boost to next to nothing.

you have to physically remove the cat and inspect it, sometimes you can tap on it with a mallet and hear a rattling noise directly from the cat itself but in the factory configuration you had 2 cats that could possibly fail.
shine a light through them and you should see a complete honeycomb, if it is broken up or clogged and you can't see light through it then it needs to be replaced.
you can also omit the cats but then you will have to read up on "boost creep" and possibly port the wastegate on the turbo which is a bit more involved than installing new cats.
