I do! I do!
Pick me!

Oh...
That's a condenser for the oil pressure gauge circuit.
From what I understand it's fairly common for them to be found dangling, obviously the gauge will work without it.
It will protect the gauge in case of a voltage spike (or unintentional grounding), so it'd be good to have though.
Look at the harness that has the oil pressure sending unit wire and you'll probably find a very dirty, oily connector for the condenser.

Nope if you did that then you could never break the short block down for rebuild, since the rear iron is the first iron that has to come off.

No one commented about the nut that's stripped on the engine mount. Could I just JB weld that sucker to make sure it doesn't come off?

I wanted to link my other thread here. Mostly so that if someone who's thinking about doing a rebuild and comes across this thread I have everything documented for them.

Today I took the plunge and ordered the basic rebuild kit from rotary aviation. They were sold out of the regular apex seals so I had to get the super seals. I hope to have everything finished in about 2 more weeks, maybe even less!

A little update. I believe I have all the parts I need now, but I'm sure some small things will come up during the rebuild, especially vacuum lines (mine are old and crunchy). I'm still in the cleaning and inspection phase, but I plan to start the real assembly this weekend. Pics and info will be added when interesting things actually happen.
