Help Car Wont Start
My 88 GTU isnt starting after the batt got drained.
So i put a brand new batt, cleaned the connections and terminals.
Then it wouldnt even show up that the new batt was giving power to the acessories.
So i check the fuses and the main 80A is blown.
I replace that and still its not starting. But now i am getting my headlights and acessories to turn on.
Any help?

yeah it tries to turn over but it just cant get there. It makes this high winey sound when i try to turn it over. Im not sure why the 80 blew at all. Ive been checking my wires and i dont see anything thats loose. Ill take some pics of the engine bay to show whats up.

High whiney sound during crank is indicative of flooding...
Think Rat might have nailed your fuse blowing reason, or if you've played with the alt lately, letting the big charging wire hit ground or the engine can blow it...

Remember when starting a fuel injected car you should never pump or press the accellerator pedal, but if it won't start it is probably flooded, Hold the accelerator pedal all the way down while cranking, do not pump the pedal. If it still doesn't start after a few tries, Then remove the EGI fuse and crank a couple more times, then re-install the fuse and try starting again. If then the car still fails to start it then you need to remove and clean the spark plugs, put in a teaspoon of ATF into the lower sparkplug holes, re-install the spark plugs and try again. Make sure you change your oil after you have started and run the car ASAP.

Pull a plug or two first to see if they're wet, then go with the deflooding procedures (a search will yield two days' worth of reading on THAT subject, lol).
With everything that's happened, it still could be something that got fried before the main fuse blew...

Believe it or not, the ONLY way I've been able to start my S4 after a serious flood (3 of 'em over the history of the car) is by mashing the peddle to the floor and keeping it there until she finally catches...
