Help! broken bleed valve on caliper!
Help! broken bleed valve on caliper!
I was bleeding the brakes and snapped off the head of one of the bleeder screws. What size are these? Where can i find another one?
I figured it was a pretty standard part, so i took the whole valve off and headed out to the local parts place. Nope, they dont have one, and everywhere else is closed or dont have the right size. I cant get in touch with any junk yards to see if they've gotten an FC in (but last time i checked they didnt), so im stuck without a car i can safely drive now.

You can get a whole rebuilt caliper (with a bleeder screw conveniently in it) for about $30 from your local auto parts store. I ordered one from O'Reiley when I stripped the threads from my caliper and it was there by the next day.
Just buy that.
Just buy that.
would these speed-bleeders come with the outside piece too? I mean the bit that actually threads into the caliper main casting. I may just go the rebuilt way, that way I know im getting something that works.
the caliper itself is fine, its just the two pieces that make up the valve that are screwed up. they're already out of the caliper, but I cant re-use either of them, especially after trying and failing with the ez-out after extensive PB-blaster soaking
This $30 rebuilt caliper seems quite elusive, and there arent any O'reily's that i know of around me. Plus, all the bleed screws that I can find are just the inner screw with the nipple on it, not both pieces.

Last time I priced calipers they were $78 per side (four piston front) after your core charge has been credited and $85 per side for rear (vented rotor type) after the core charge was given back also.

ok, well, i may just have to go that way then. One last question, is whether part number FB05-33-691A (convertible) refers to just the inner bleeder screw, or the whole part. Is this interchangable with part number 0233-33-691 (coupe)?

Anyways... go through there. I think that link should work.
nope, didnt work, but I called a local napa and they quoted me $45 plus $10 shipping, plus $66 core. I finally found something that would work tho, and matched the part that came off... however after inspecting the other side, it wasnt what was on the car normally (it was a 2-piece bleeder, stock seems to be 1-piece), so I was searching for the wrong thing.
Speed bleeder includes the whole bleeder.
Not sure what you mean by "...the two pieces that make up the valve that are screwed up"
What two pieces? Please clarify or include picture. BTW, around my neck of the woods, most performance places sell Speedbleeders.
