HELP! is it blown?

ok well here's the story. yesterday i had an appointment at the dyno for 3. so i put the new header on that morning. . boy does she sound mint, and pull nice. Anyways i went to the dyno and pulled 133.8hp at 6300rpm and 128.6tq at like 5100rpm on an extremly heatsoaked engine. . maybe it was having no heat sheild with the header. . . anyhow my mods are S5 upper intake mani, ported s4 lower, rb header, 2 1/2inch header back. Unorthidox racing pully (<---the culprit) The numbers seem a little weak to me but moving on. . ok so on the way home from the dyno i look behind me see some smoke. . go another hundred yards car sputters i pull into a parking lot shut her down and when i open the hood all i see is oil. . . oil is everywhere, all over both fenders, the hood, everything. i check the dip stick and nothing is in the engine. . i look at the pully and it is pulled out a tad, i then see the woodruff key stickign out, along with what i suspect is the oil pressure regulator?? Well i bought the car with this pully on there. . so no pointing the fingure at me. . lol So my guess is that they messed up putting the pully on, and the bolt backed out or something? i'm not sure. . So what do you gys think? is my engine gone? i'll probably pull it anyhow and get it ported or something. . So anyhow, do you guys think that the housings will be savable for a rebuild. . it's not frozen up and it hasn't been overheated that i know of. Please help guys, oh and recomendations for an engine builder would be nice. i was thinking rotary ressurection. . and as large of a port as he will do .lol thanks Dom

LOL

That sucks man, I haven't put mine back together but just from taking it apart I can tell you that it sounds like they didn't torque the pulley nut on... it's a HELL of a nut and you are supposed to locktite it and really torque it on there. So it sounds like someone didn't do that right, the nut came out, letting basically all the oil pump housing come off...

To REALLY summarize it, I think you can put the housing back on with a new gasket and the other stuff entailed as if you had taken it off on purpose... but your biggest problem is that I've heard the bearing on the counterweight will come out of place if the engine isn't mounted upright on an engine stand until after the pulley nut is tightened on to hold everything down. I was told once it falls out of place, you're likely to go to tighten down that pulley nut and CRUSH the bearing. Whooops.

EDIT: Oh and RR is highly recommended! ;D I'm doing my own rebuild and Kevin is extremely knowledgable about EVERYTHING to do with engine rebuilds... or anything even slighly related even, haha. Awesome guy, definately will get what you want done right.

flip of the coin, if the engine was sputtering it could have been starving for oil and caused some damage but you won't know until you either tear it apart or install the crank pulley and try to fire it up.

This is bad. You're going to need to pull the front cover and inspect the thrust plate and bearing assembly. Most likely, you will find them damaged. In this case, metal shavings could have easily entered the oiling system, damaging every bearing in the engine. If you are confident, you can also pull the front stationary gear (DO NOT ROTATE THE ENGINE WITH THE GEAR OUT) and check it's bearing.

The engine is probably rebuildable, but expect to see damage to the e-shaft and bearings.

well that depends on how quickly it all happaned, i have seen some interference piston engines lose a timing belt and not bend a valve yet some bend just about every valve, this is a similar analogy but not nearly the same. hope for the best but expect the worst.
