Help! BIG Misfire on 2nd gen

Hi, Ive had my dream 2nd Gen RX 7 Turbo 11 convertible for about 5 months now, after restoring the interior replacing the soft top, removing the large amount of rust and painting, the car it is looking fine!! But it has developed a misfire that will change from hour to hour it is either just popping and putt putt ing on idle and that’s it to the other end of the scale where it will hardly pull its own weight (perhaps I am eating to much at lunch??) if you hold the revs constant at about 2-3500 rpm not under any load you can here it struggle.

I have changed plugs and leads
Fuel filter
airfilter
Compression tests seems fine
Timing seems spot on

I am running out of money so was wondering if any one had come across the same problem and may be able to point me in the right direction or has an idea before I just start guessing

Cheers!!! Jim

Adjust the TPS. If that doesn't do it, look at replacing the ACV valve.

Leaky injector maybe? Bad coil possibly?

When my spark began firing intermittantly, I slowed down to pull over because it was being a real dog on WOT, and as I was pulling over it was popping like crazy out the exhaust from the fuel being burned in the exhaust system rather than the combustion chamber. At that point it wasn't too happy about holding idle either. I solved the problem after diagnosing the spark (or lack thereof) on the vehicle.

Yo,

Here's something that was causing my GTUs to seemingly misfire at high RPM's:

The evil black tic tac...aka a boost pill.

If you have recently replaced the vacuum line going from your boost sensor on your passenger shock tower with a nice silicone one...guess what? There is a little boost pill that is in the stock one.

You need to get that little bastard and stick it in the new line at the bottom near the manifold, big orifice towards the motor, pinhole towards the boost sensor.

After grounding the entire car, getting new plugs, and new plug wires...it was the Evil Tic Tac. *grin*

Does anyone know where to get a new "boost pill" I threw away the old hose without knowing about it.
