help with apc gauge

Ok I've searched and searched and found a lot of helpful tips but I can't seem to find the answer that I'm looking for. I bought a generic APC water temp gauge because my stock one doesn't work and I have no idea as to how hooking up the sender wires go. I know that the stock sender has a little fin that gets hooked up with a plug, but the sender that came with this gauge has a white and a black wire about 2 or 3 inches each coming out of it. I need help guys...its really frustrating me not knowing how hot my cars running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oooo...ok.
So does it get grounded on the gauge itself or do I ground it off anywhere?..and yea it did bring instructions but they are some bullshit little diagrams that only make a little bit of sense because they do not resemble the actual part accordingly...lol
