Help: 87 Turbo II Apex Seal bad?
ok here's the story: the car was running for like a week once i bought it but it was getting harder and harder to start and then it died while i was in a wide turn and i started it up and went to drive it died again. now it wont start without pulling the plugs...the car also floods every time we shut the engine off . . .The car has no emissions system at all. here is what the car has done to it in the engine:
Complete Engine Rebuilt
Streetport on intake and exhaust ports
2 550cc and 2 720cc injectors
ACT Clutch and PP
R-Teck 1.7 ECU upgrade
hardened stationary gears
New engine and tranny mounts
Racing beat full exhaust..
relocated battery (optima yellow top)
Blitz blow off valve
Koyo Aluminum radiator
FD alternator with rotor dual pulley
S5 89-91 stereo and shifter surround (rubber type)
HKS Air Filter
3" Custom TID
talked to some guy he said the apex seal may need replaced...
somebody also told me i have hot start problems...

No.
From the info you gave it sounds like the engine may be getting tired, but its certainly not blown...........yet
The flooding might be caused by a leaky fuel injector, low compression (from the engine getting tired) or a combination of the two. Compression check the engine (procedure is in the archives/FAQ) to determine its health. Anything under 80psi is on its way out.
Band-aid repairs to try for the time being would be to install a fuel cut off switch (which is alsoa good anti-theft measure). Simply install a switch at the + wire going to the fuel pump. Easy to get at under the rear carpet. Run the swtich to where ever you like, and presto.
Simply use the switch to shut the car off by revving it up to approx. 3Krpm, mat the gas pedal while flicking the switch off, then hold the pedal down until the engine is stopped. All the fuel in the fuel system will have bled out and cannot leak into the combustion chamber, thereby preventing a flood situation.
Then when you start the car up, crank the car over while turning the switch on, and presto.
Not a cure for the problem, but it will help immensly.

whoosh
There's a not so easy way to do it. Take the turbo and manifold off and get a strap wrench to turn one of the front pulleys. If you hear 6 "whooshes" evenly spaced then you're ok. I did it the other day on my NA, but the motor was out of the car so it was pretty easy. I"m sure with it in the motor it's a bit harder.

we have a kill switch installed but and it worked for a while but now its near impossible to start and my mechanic said the compression was good so it could be leaky injectors?
