Help!

I just completed re-building my first RX-7 engine (1988). I have tried to start it about 15 times but it floods (I smell gas) and won't start.

Actually, it did start twice but the engine over-reved. I could not get it to idle.

The throttle cable is connected just like my other two RX-7's and the throttle is closed. I disconnected the throttle cable just to see if the throttle would move ... it did not move.

This is weird.

Any suggestions?

Did it over rev once and then die? Does it over rev everytime and die now? Or Does it over rev and stick up there?

I'm Not Certain ...

... about the first time it started. I probably turned the ignition off before it had a chance to die on its own. But it over reved and died the second time.

I had the fuel injectors re-built and calibrated while I was re-building the engine.

If its over-reving and turning right back off I would check simple stuff.. Check lines in your intake. Theres a small line running into your intake line right after your manifold. Check that one. Check your vacuum lines towards the rear.. They are usually the ones forgotten.. If it revs up and dies... i wouldnt think it would be throttle.. The engine Does however shut itself down it it can tell theres a problem with vac/intake

If it were injectors you could force it to crank

This Car Is An Automatic, So ...

... there are three vacuum lines that go into the top, rear of the dynamic chamber (throttle body).

I swapped two of the vacuum lines and the car started, idled and ran for 2-3 minutes ... then died and would not restart. I must be getting closer. Any more suggestions?
