help
well i just dont know what to do.
today i removed my acv, the airpump had already been taken out. After i did this i started the car and was going to set the timing, somthing i have never done on this car before. I ahd a very hard time getting the marks on the e. pulley to line up with the pin. I finally got the leading mark lined up and then started to do the trailing. when i put the timing light on it, the marks were in the same position as they were for the leading. this freaked me out so i put the light back on the leading coil and then before my very eyes the mark jumped about 3 cm counterclockwise. while i was doing this, the light seemed to be operating erratically but in time with the miss my car has. I didnt take the cas out to align everything, or jump the initial set connector, is the a necessity.
I decided not to mes with the timing any more for tonight. while i was driving to a friends house the car was running like crap backfiring a lot. then when i was on my way home from this friends house, the car dies in the middle of the road. it is usually like that when it is cold, but it usualy runs fairly well when it is warm. I pull over to the side of the road and try to crank the car. it starts then dies, like it does when it is cold. i do this about five times and then the car stops trying to start. i tried to unflood it, nothing.
the last time i had the upper intake off of it I replaced th eoil metering lines with silicon hoses. could that be my problem?
sorry for such a long post

Uh, not to be an ***, but silicone hose, or any vacuum hose for that matter, will not work with the OMP injection. Go back to the stock lines and leave it alone, it worked fine for 10-15 years, it will work for a few more. IF they were broken, buy new ones for $15 each at mazda.
For the backfiring, removing the acv and some of that stuf will cause backfiring, round idle, adn deceleration. Smoothing that stuff out is why mazda put those parts on the engine.
IF it were me Id put it back the way it was and see if it doesnt do better. Its usually best to do one mod at a time, so if you have a screwup you can retrace your steps easily and get it going agian.
