i've got Transmission problems, and alot of the searches come up with the same thing of someone trying to put in a short throw and what not.

my problem is that, my gears are not working. the gearing messed up and now neutral is reverse, and 1st and 2nd don't do anything but make a burning smell trying to keep the rpm up from killing the car and, 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse are inaccessible. i have no clue what happened cause the car was driving like normal all day. it seems like its stuck in reverse or something, i have no clue.

i'm going to check through the FSM to see if it says anything. i need help fast, and anything would be great. i'm hoping that this doesn't mean i need a new tranny

 

n/a trans are unbelievably cheap, just replace it.

You can try pulling the trans and taking off the tailstock to take a peak at the linkage and see if it got stuck somewhere.

 

i was told the linkage could be messed up, i'll just have to see tomorrow when i rip it apart in a mall parking lot. i'll take pics of the internals for everyone

 

check the syncros too

 

That really sucks. I hope the mall cops are cool with you pulling out your trans in their lot. I'm guessing you left it there because thats where your tranny took a dump. I'm lucky that i live next to about a dozen junkyards. I have a good NA trans lying around too. Too bad you live too far. Junkyard transmission swap FTW if you are a little low on cash though.
