Question Heater hose: Firewall to Lower enigne...

Anyone know where I can pick up a new hose for a decent price? Dealer is 45 and change. Local shops don't carry it. Am calling Mazdatrix when they open. Any other recommendations.....

Thanks

The above prices are for the non-turbo. The only hose specific to the TurboII is the engine to heater core hose, but price is about the same.

mazdaformance sucks.. they won't ship to canada even though their order form clearly states that it would.

I bought a vacuum hose kit, and they gave me this lame excuse about how it would take to long. I told them that I had all the time in the world and that I still wanted it. Here is their exact reply

"im sorry, but we cannot help you".

They also billed me and didn't put the $ back onto my card...

wouldn't recommend them.

The person who handled my order was Dustin, and had processed the order that day. I don't know about shipping to Canada, but I had no problems with him. I got everything I ordered within a week (some of the parts were special order).

I did notice they had marked down their vacuum hose kit--the Hose Techniques kit. Sounds like whoever you spoke to screwed up. I'd call them and ask for Dustin if it was a web-order.

If this is the hose that goes from the firewall to the engine, running under the oil pedestal (where it gets soaked with oil and eventually bursts), I have a brand new extra one if anyone needs it, still in wrapper. Part # FB01-61-211C.

I say this about once a month when this subject pops up, lol, but right after you install the new hose, smother a layer of black RTV over the areas of the hose that get oil saturated, and you won't have to worry about it again for a long time. The RTV will swell with the hose, takes the heat, and will keep any oil or other solvents from getting to the rubber

Yeps...it is. I recently replaced my water pump. And that was a little job in itself too. Now I understand about what they said about the housing coming right along with it. And ofcourse I did not have that small gasket for it either. Noone carried it....so black RTV to the rescue!

System fully pressurized since I can remember and of course.....just a few days later it found the weakest link.....that dreaded hose under the oil filter. She blew, but luckily I was just pulling in my driveway when it happened. It scared the **** outta me though.

For now I just cut the hose back 1" 1/2 and went ahead and ordered from MazdaPerformance. Cheapest I could find. Seemed like a good bunch out there in Texas. Don't foresee a problem, they were actaully very helpfull.

What will fail next lol....anybody...so I can prepare myself. Love the FC though!

Peace
