Heat shields and drive shaft question
Again, did try searching (honest) but can't seem to find installation or placement info for the heat shields. Picked up a batch for our 86. The gas tank one is obvious as are the muffler ones and the two furthest right side ones are still there (but no exhaust manifold shield.... will be making one up soon) but I cant seem to place the large "delta" shaped one. Kinda hoping I do not have to drop the shaft again.
Speaking of, replaced the shaft (the previous owner had a new U.V. installed but it was not centered... vibrated like crazy. I installed a new one, much better but also picked up an origional shaft which I have swapped. So, no idea if it is balanced with the diff, if that is an issue? I do read that the shaft should be marked prior to removal to prevent unblancing and vibration. How do I have this rebalanced?
Thanks

I would use the pictures in the factory service manual to place the heat shields:
RotaryHeads.com - 2nd Gen RX-7 PDF Technical Manuals FC3S
You don't have to balance the driveshaft with the diff. you're fine.

No images in the fsm from what I see BUT there is one in the tranny section showing the shield in question so will start from there and see if it makes sense.
As for the rear wiper motor wiring on the "budget model", no direct harness at the kick board from the cluster but I have translated the wiring diagram enough to find the source wires at the cluster and will connect directly if I can't find the 2nd connection.
I will post final connection and some images later when done for any one else converting from non to rear wiper hatch.

If I recall stock stuff...you got 2 shield at the front of the car.
One that starts at the passenger firewall and goes down. Then another attaches to that one and is near the trans.Combined those 2 sections are like 3 feet or so..(been awhile so if I'm wrong..don't shoot me!)

Thanks. I can probably figure out from this info. I do recall seeing a diagram of the complete underbody with numbered shields somewhere but just can't find it.
have a good one.
