Question Headunit pinout diagram...

The radio wasnt getting any reception on the cdplayer in the rx7 i just got. took it apart for a look and the guy did. he did some makeshift wiring. I wanted to find the pinout so i could figure this stuff out and do it correctly i might just throw an alpine in there, not a big fan of pioneers products. There are wires taped into some relay installed, think its the power annt?? but obviouly somthing is wrong, annt doesnt come up and reception blows.

If the antenna doesnt come up, that is WHY the reception blows.

Check this place out:

Awesome site. See if it has what you need.

No problem.

I used that site for my Accord stereo. Helped A LOT!

I just notice and read what it was talking about with the Mazda antenna using a (-) current up until 92 to raise it. I didnt know about this. Maybe that is what that relay is for that you said you saw.

Good luck.

**EDIT**

Meant to ask, is the stock wiring harness still intact, or has it been cut out?

its all there, he taped into it before the harness, its weird... there is no mass amount of connections, like connecting the cdplayer harness to the wiring harness. looks like there are factory harnesses on both sides.. maybe pioneer sells their own car harness now so people dont have to match the colors together lol

Well, if you are going to put in an aftermarket stereo, all you have to do is buy the adaptor. It will plug right into the factory harness so you can connect up your new stereo.

So what wire is it that he taped?

Also, have you checked to make sure that the antenna is getting power to it? It may be getting power, but just not working, in which case you will need to replace it in order to get good reception.

problem with FC stereo and the power antenna is the antenna is powered by a ground switched circuit, the relay you have installed is hooked up to supply ground for the antenna when the stereo powers the relay when the stereo is turned on. you will need to troubleshoot the system by first seeing if the relay is providing ground to the L/White circuit.
