Heads up on twin electric cooling fan install

Dont know if this has been done before or not but I figured Id let ya know. Today I installed twin electric cooling fans on my Rx7. They came off my 94 miata, you have to work to make them fit but they do, and cool great! (Im in florida) I tried sticking the miatas radiator in there but it would need a little modifacation to get to fit. I dont know how much they cost because I have a lot of spare miata parts laying around but they look factory and cool great.

I dont think its a good idea to use the miata radiator because miata's motor dont run as hot as the FC. I am sure when they designed the radiator, they dont have such high temperature in mind. Same with the fan too

a hair underneath the middle. IN 80 degree heat with the A\C on idling for 30 min. then drove it and it went as low as a quarter. No problems cooling. The miatas fans are also not designed to operate at the same time unless the air is on. Mine are wired up together so when one is running so is the other.

Something to consider about twin fans. On a radiator that’s quite a bit wider than it is tall, two small fans can cover more area than one big one. But on an RX-7, which has a radiator that is nearly square, you can cover more of the core with one big fan. For example, two 10” fans will fit, but a single 16” fan will also fit and will move more air that the two smaller fans. Of course a factory twin fan set-up from a wrecker will cost less than a big aftermarket fan, so as long as it keeps the engine cool, no probs.
