Headrest replacement speakers?
Well, fooling around with a new head unit I somehow popped both 'lefts' of my vert headrest speakers. Searched, couldn't really find any info on aftermarket replacements. Anyone ventured into this unknown zone?

You can never leave well enough alone, can you old man?
I think they're 3.5's. IT's no fun to get the thing apart though. I've yet to have to replace a set. IF you do, youre sending too much power to them. You CAN easily make an aftermarket deck control the stock amp, which will not blow them up. I would rewire the setup so that this is the case.

No sheit!! Already got the passenger side apart. I was hooking up a new headunit to the aftermarket amp already installed, which is powering the new door speakers as well as the headrests. Touched something to something I shouldn't have, got a loud low hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Finally got it all together, noticed lefts were dead. Checked with a meter, coils
open. Musta shot some serious joltage to 'em.
I think I'm covering brand new ground forum-wize, guess everyone else will learn from my experience.
I noticed on the miata forms, they seem to love these headrest speakers called "MAX-5" (http://www.performancebuyers.com/hom...ID=10&thumbs=0).
Price is right, guess I'll order them & see how it works out. Worried about fitment in that tight place, however, shape of speaker is different. But, if it works out it looks like it'll be an upgrade.
And YES, you know me so well...I CAN'T leave well enough alone...too much fun!
