Headlights stuck in the up position.
My headlights are stuck in the up position.
1990 RX7 Convertible
I have metered the switch in the instrument cluster, tested for continuity on and off positions tested good.
Shorted out polls on the switch and headlights begin to go up and down continuously.
I then pulled the connector off the motor and metered 12v on the r/l connector. (Top right pin on the connector with tab facing up without the short at the switch)
The retractor fuse is good with 12v at fuse box.
Is there a relay that needs to be checked or some sort of known problem that I can check?
Thanks, Eric

Try removing the CPU plugs on the CPU and trying again. There's a circuit to the light switch from the CPU that puts a gnd on a relay in the headlight switch and that could possibly be the problem. It's happened recently on this forum.
The CPU is next to your left foot and it takes but a few minutes to remove the plugs and try the headlights again for retraction etc.

Fixed it
OMFG! I would have never figured that out. Well maybe I would have tracked it down to the CPU. But, I would have never thought to snip the wire! Absolutely brilliant.
You guys rigity rock! Thank you for the fix.
GOOD KARMA TO YOU, Eric
