Pretty good stuff. Just stick in some Sylvania Silverstars and it's all good to go.
I have these as well and was pleased with the results.

I have the ebay kit. Ya, it's cheap, but the pattern is good, and you don't create all that waste replacing large sealed bulbs. That was blue spray paint burning off the bulbs in the picture. It's a cheap trick to give regular bulbs that "blue HID look". Not that I've tried it. *cough-cough*

You need to o some reading before you guys make statements like "silverstars are the best" or silverstars kick ***," etc.....

All that means is that you were sucked in by good marketing campaing.

You sure convinced me. I can't trust my eyes telling me that contacts are letting me see better. That'll save me like a couple hundred dollars a year. I sure won't fall for their cheap marketing scam again. Thanks man!

I agree. I bought a set of these lights and the beam pattern is excellent - they have a very sharp cutoff. I think the best price with shipping on EBay is around $35.

However I did not use the bulbs. I got a good set of bulbs from Rallylights.com.

Get the longlife bulbs. $7.50 each. (the 130/90W's are good but they won't last long and they are illegal on the street)

That link has the straight dope.

Blue light is OK in good weather, but is really bad in the rain when you need the best possible visibility.

Stock 6054 sealed beams are 55/35 watts.
Wal-Mart has 6054HO's for <$10 each that deliver 65/65 watts of clear light.
That's a huge deal for me since most of my night driving is on low beams.

I view his "facts" with as much as suspicion as you view the marketing. For me, the only fact I know is that Sylvania Silverstars compared with the bulbs that were on my car before...I can see farther. Have you tried the Silverstars before? I was extremely suspicious of them before, like you. But then I found a good deal, and was like, why not, let's try them. I swapped one in, turned it on, and was totally blown away. Took it for a drive around town...I'd highly recommend Silverstars to anyone no matter what this link says, even if he is some bigshot bulb expert.

You still dont get it. I have used Silverstars before, and I agree that it looked like I could see better with the silverstars than with the crappy stock sealed beams. So if the sealed beam is your benchmark, then by all means...use the silverstars.

However, the theory you are having such a hard time grasping is that your perception of "better" visibility is flawed. Its perception, and perception is a subjective measure. Daniel Stern and others in his industry use objective means for testing light. They use machines and computers, and can measure what bulb gives off better light.

Therefore, there is absolutely no friggin way that a light with a filter (the blue coating) will emit more light than a clear bulb.
The blue does not make you cool.

ok...here's an ironic story. after researching the headlights. i was on my home when the passenger light blew out. after seeing go out, 2 min. later i got pulled over cuz of it. (damn florida cops). funny thing was when he told me i got pulled over for the light, i was 1/2 block away from discount. i instictly told him i was on my way to replace them. i didnt think he'd believe but he told me if he saw me go in there he'd let me go. well i did, got these silvanna lights and they are perfect. paid about $35 to get them - same price if i'd gone to ebay including shipping. to madrx7, i did check the harness and i did hav power. now i need sunglasses at night.
