I turn the switch on and they go up, but when I turn it off, they wont go down... I can put them down manually and they will go up again with the switch, but not down... Wtf

Heh, do your brights not work either?

I'm in the same exact boat, suprisingly in LA too...if you figure it out let me know.

I can also make mine go up and down by grounding/powering the wires directly at the beginning of the harness but as soon as you plug in the switch it fubares up again, I've tried about 10 different head light switches all of which have been promised to be good.

that just happened to me when you turn them manually and they turn by themselves keep checking inside with the switch to see if the go back down. You just have to make sure the headlights are on the same setting. Both turned one way and both turned the other when they are manually set. then the switch will operate then normally.

didn't work for me, I tried everything when it comes to memorey of the switches, unhooked + and turned the switches to lights down of course (both of them). then turned one head lights **** to the left, and the other head light to the other side, both of which went down.

Hook the + back up and they shoot right back up, like a relays stuck open, take the switch off and all is well with them stay down, it's just as soon as I hook up my switch (MOTHER!)

The relay is probably shot. Replace them and see if it's still a problem. Try to find em off a buddy's 7, with known working headlight motors/relays, or a junkyard.

If they work, problem solved.

There is no up/down relay except for in the head light switch it self, I tried to manually set all of the relays in the front, each one did something different but none affected the up/down status.

Also, the head light switch, I actually bought one of a member here, that was in working condition, and then had about 6-7 come with my car when I bought it as the dealership was trying to test them to see if they were bad and what were cuasing it but nothing changed the status.

Now, if I manually remove the connector at the motor it self, and jump the wires with my dad helping we can make them go up and down.

man I know what I did worked for me and I had the exact same problem. I manually adjusted them with the battery on though. Try removing the fuse under the hood so that they reset and then when you put the fuse back in they will raise up. First lower the headlights manually. Then pop the fuse back in and then go inside the car and try the switch. The fuse for the retractor motor is under the hood where the egi fuse is. It's a 30amp fuse. I think it is the last fuse. Try that and let me know.

That's the way I have to do it, if I do it with the battery on and the fuse in that spot and twist the ***** manually the ******* car winks at me. (ie head lights go down then right back up, in a winking fashion) - my car is possesed.

The bottom fuse is the retractor fuse, I remove it and disconnect the battery, turn the ***** in teh cabin to down, replace the fuse and WAHLAH up they go, but wont go back down.

It's the headlight switch itself.

im looking at the workshop manual and their seem to be more than one fuse..
their is a 30A for the relay inside the light switch and then another 30A for the retrator motors themselfs.. but, you say that they go up, but not down.. so that rules the fuses out.. U used other light switches so that rules the light switch out.. i guess you need to check your wirering harness, check the connectors, the wire might be broken somewhear.. did someone install a alarm or sound system...

hope this helps, to bad i dont have a scaner. otherwise i would of scaned the workshop manual.. i know that their is a online version, but i dont have a link..

I've checked the online manual, it says to check the grounds, all grounds are fine.

Now, a couple of other electrical gremlins that I've noticed.

1) The stock security system does NOT work.
2) My bright lights do NOT work.
3) My drivers side door mouse belt does NOT work, but I have a replacment.
4) My passenger side is slow sometimes until you reopen the door then it's fast.
