headlights

I got a question where is the fuse for the headlights
I do not want the lights to pop up when they are on,
all I want is the lights to come on through the two lenses
so where is the fuse, I looked under the dash in the fuse pannel and I think it wasnt any one of these after the description

i don't know why you would want to do this, but you can just unplug the motors that drive them.

look at the under hood fuse box...inside the engine bay...

...now pull out the one designated as "retractor" (it should say which one on the fuse box cover), this should be a 30 amp one...then blam! - magically, your headlights wont open!...

hope you dont use this at night.....you will not see anything.....trust me I tried...........even if you try to do the halfway up way it will cut visibility dramatically.......Unless you cut your bumper like the border kit here http://corksport.com/main.php3?primN...3Fcat%3D214911

or you could just do something like this however you will need to fabricate your own lighting system with the bumper lenses (obviously) and if anyone has any comments on it won't work as well with the off road rally lights i'm using it's brighter and wider then the stock ones would ever be plus i all fits in with the stock clear lenses

This..

i just found that the pop up headlights broke the lines in the car, specially when up, so i shaved them.

i find it looks smother, i guess sleeker, and it looks alot better in person, or so i'm told by ppl that have seen pics and then in person

in any case.... beauty is in the eye of the beholder
so i might be the only one who likes that

driving with the lights down sucks i mean, the light that comes out of the ftp lense from the headlight isnt adequate, imo.
*edit* not what u did

Man, you need a dose of common sense. Driving at night without the lights raised is just frickin' stupid. Only a tiny amount of the headlights' output comes through the FTP lenses. The beam is significantly shorter and narrower. Headlight mods are supposed it improve lighting, not ruin it.

Perhaps I'm just skeptical, but I think you're going to need to show us that...

lol no pictures yet..

but trust me i hate not being able to see where i'm going so i wouldn't have done this if it didn't work.. tried the lenses b4 i modified the hood..

i'll take some pics as soon as i finish the final lenses.. the first ones (prototype) are junk since i cut up the back so many times b4 i found lights that worked well..

only problem is they don't light up well just infront of the car, they miss the first few meters which isn't too bad since at any speed if you didn't see something b4 you got that close you have problems.. but even that small blind spot can be fixed with some lights in the lower bumper area..

but in any case these lights almost seem too bright, i felt like a Rotary powered spotlight when i tried the last configuration

ah, I had a similar idea for this... I want the headlights to NOT pop up when my lights are turned on. However, i want them to pop up when i use the manual pop-up switch that's right above the light dial. Anyone have any ideas for doing this?

I kinda wanna have day-time lights.. but not have them pop up and still mantain the full visibility at night(so i can still pop them up).

I would guess that if you probed the main headlight switch harness you could figure out which wire signals the motors to raise the lamps. You could just disconnect that one at the switch, while leaving the completed circuit to the other switch. Then you could hit the main switch to turn them on, and use the second switch at night as well.

I was toying with the idea of molding the lights into the hood JUST like is shown here - I love the way it looks. I didn't really think it out like you have, I'm glad someone did - please post up when you complete it, preferably with a part number of the lights

I was actually going to look at installing lenses from a late model GM F-body as they look close to the right shape and size to mount right in the FTP mounting hole. Haven't yet measured or figured out how to mount them to make them adjustable so I can aim them.

Good luck and keep us posted!
