headers

I have an 87 N/A with a RB cat down pipe and presilencer, how loud would it be if I put on a streetable header from RB? Oh, what would it sound like with the stock header and the Rotary Performance Cat Back 50mm system? Thanks.

Wll obviously the volume would go up but as to our descriptions about sound you can't take our word for it man. People would always be saying how the true duals sound like crap. When I put them on and turned on the car they sounded very good and powerful. All this they suck no they don't suck **** if BS you have to make your own descission on what is good and what is not good.

which one would you guys go with? I was thinking of the cat-back, only because of the weedwacker effect of headers, also, has anyone used the RP system?

http://www.rx7.com/cgi-local/2catalo...at=11&part=150 are these considered true duals?

i've got the rb header/presilencer to a hks 50mm catback, it's loud, but not THAT bad, and yes it does sound like a weedwhacker sometimes... true duals? maybe, but they don't work as well on a ported engine, so they're not for me

Well the thing is that I some guys that don't even have the headers and silencer saying stuff about them...

I don't see how they are justified in saying things about something they don't own.

I don't mind getting poked fun of but saying that something is garbage like "he" does is BS I have had mine for a while now and I have had only two problems: an exhaust leak from the read of silencer 1, exhaust leak at the front of silencer 2(need to get to that) which are 100% my fault for not having a torque wrench. I have had them in rain, mudd, sun, haill and nothing has gone wrong with them. and they still polish up good.

If you have the cash go with True Duals

I don't really know where people get the weed wacker sound from. I have listend to my car from inside and outside and she sounds oh so good

I agree, the only weedwacker sound I've heard has been from the Pacesetter products (sry Lenny )...at least from what I remember but I haven't heard many (MAYbe 2) cars that sound like weed whackers. Raspy sounds usually come with cars with large tips out the back...from what I've seen.

As for the RP system, I own it and I think it sounds incredible. The sound is quite deep, yet it richens up nicely when you get on it. I BELIEVE that most of the sound that you get from the exhaust system will come from the tips on the mufflers, so if you go for a grapefruit tip then you'll get lots of volume and a nasty sound (most of the time). Go for smaller tips and you won't have that problem. Also don't forget that the piping will also have a lot to do with the sound...really small piping that jumps to something large all of a sudden will most likely (just like a large tip on a muffler...the outlet is only 2.5" but you have a 4" tip on it...thus it's loud and raspy) give you a lot of volume and a raspy sound. What I have on the car now (RP system, Bonez Cat and Presilencer) is all very closely matched in sizes (60mm down to 50mm back to 60mm tips) and there is no loud or raspy sound to speak of...just a nice deep growl (a strange almost "mechanical"...I don't know I can't explain it...KINDA reminds me of the rev on Sureshots car...just the first throttle blip...but not quite) that grows into a beautiful sound the higher you rev. It's not Honda Civic with a big muffler growl (so you can still talk, and it doesn't make all that noise when you're not going anywhere...it fits the car very nicely), but that's a good thing.
