Header/Cat Length ?
Header/Cat Length ?
Hey all, I am almost done getting my car through DEQ, and I will be building my new motor. It will be almost all s5, lightend rotors, large street port w/ very aggressive port timing. I want to run a long primary collected header to a single exhaust. But I want to know how far a way can I put the cat convertor away from the engine and still get it to get up to temp fairly quick? Or do you guys think that this motor combo will even pass emissions.
Thanks

I doubt that the motor would even pass........ pluss. putting cats back on is kinda a waste with that motor......ya know what i mean.... id try to find a way around emmisions
Well here is my plan, I am having a exhaust shop welding my system. A RB header to stainless cat, to a borla XR-1 and finishing it off with a corksport generic muffler. But the trick I was going to do was having the exhaust shop weld some pipe on the front and back of the cat and put flanges on them. And at the same time I would have them make me a straight pipe of the same length also with flanges. So that way when it comes time to DEQ bolt on the Cat pipe, and then the rest of the time I will just bolt on the race pipe
Plus I will be using a SAFC right off the bat, then going to a microtech EMS.
