Might need to change the bulbs. That happened in my truck once. Both high beams went out at the same time. Low beams worked fine. That or the switch isn't working.

when you hit the high beams, the low beams go out. They don't both stay on at the same time.

Also, since both lights were probably installed at the same time and they are used together, they probably last the same amount of time. I had break lights go out in just a couple days from each other. And I've had a set of head lights wear out at the same time.

just an idea, not completely sure, but is there a separate fuse for the highbeams than the lows?

When my alternator was putting out too much juice both my low beams burned out at once. Just a thought.

check the relays. get a cheapo voltage meter(the kind where the handle lights up when it gets voltage) and check the relays. it's like a 3 slot plug. one is for low beams, highbeams and i guess the 3rd is a ground. turn on your lights and put the little needle in each hole. one should light up the handle. try again w/ the highbeams on. same thing should happen. if not that relay might be fried or the contact is bad.
