Are those brakes for street use? A friend of mine bought a car with those installed, and they seemed to be a track-only brake pad. Really loud and needed to be heated up to work correctly.

HPS are street/performance pads. HP+ are more autocross, HPDE pads. The +s dust a lot and squeek but are great even from cold. The Ss are supposed to dust a lot less, squeek less and be great even cold.

I'm using the Castrol GT LMA fluid and the HP+ pads. Seems great to me on street and autocross driving...
Come to think of it, I should probably change fluid sometime soon...

So I won't cook my new brake system from the high heat that these pads produce?

you should only use fluid compatible with the lines and seals (the pads/rotor do not matter in terms of compatability)

the hps pads will burn to powder just before dot3 fluid starts to boil, so you dont need to overkill with dot5 or sythetic in my opinion. just keep the sysyem well flushed and bled and itll give all the performance you need.
