Having Tranny problems.....

Well I have noticed in 2nd and 3rd gear it *grinds* I guess and every now and then I can feel a rattle as i let the clutch out?? I am not exactly sure what the prob may be, so if anyone has gone through same prob or may have an idea, any info would be greatly apreciated. Also, I am thinking of replacing the trani and the clutch for the hell of it, I jsut bought the car so I have no idea if its stil the stock trani/clutch.... Any suggestions?? Dont really know a price range never bought a nwe trani before or a clutch *lol*.

Sounds like a synchro is taking a **** on you Throw some redline tranny oil in there, it supposibly does wonders for old synchros. But you are just delaying the problem. Synchros are cheap to buy, just you have to pull the tranny to put new ones in, which is where it gets expensive.

i say remove the tranny.... then take it to a shop that rebuilds trannies. and it will be a hell of alot cheaper than taking your car to get the tranny taken out and fixed .. i got a quote around here of $75.00 to rebuild the tranny while it was out. not bad seeing that buying a brand new one like ur saying ... i think.. will cost u in the upper hundreds to lower thousands. u dont want that man. rebuild is the way. i just took a chance with a junkyard tranny for $35.00 w/core. it is ok. feels better than mine did but it will soon have its day to die.
peace out
