Having real troble getting the engine stabbed
I am having a huge amount of trouble getting the engine stabbed on the transmission. Here are the specifics, the engine is a 13b-RE, the trans is a stock s5 auto, I put the original flexplate on the RE. I have the stainless mount adapters sold by another lister. I just cant seem to get them lined up and clearing everything. I think it will, but its so ******* tight.
I have all the right tools, and Ive never had a problem getting an engine in a car before, any advice would be most appreciated....
Thanks,

If anyone else happens to find this thread in a search, and your having problems stabbing an auto trans, don't do what the book says and set the torqe converter at 33 mm, simply push it all the way in, this was the problem. Once you connect the engine and trans there is enought length on the torqe converter bolts to pull the assembly together (torge converter and flexplate).

I've never done the automatic, but I find that when installing the engine with the transmission already in the car the engine mounts MUST be removed first or you're in for a world of pain lining it up. Hoist the engine into place, mate it with the transmission then install the mounts afterwards while it's still supported by the hoist. Just don't let the assembly hang by the transmission.
