Havent seen this oil pressure question yet.

If an 88 TII has zero oil pressure at idle, does that rule out the oil thermo bypass pellet, and positively point to the front cover o-ring.

EDIT: Sorry to mention, this reading is with a mech. gauge.

Give us the pressures at higher RPMs...

my 88 N/A has 0 pressure when warm at idle and 40-60 when RPMs increase .
Not trying to hijack this thread, just curious if this is normal? 175 miles on a rebuild.

my Rebuild has like 2-4 psi for the first min of running then goes up to 60 all at idle..

sounds like classic front cover o-ring blowout. this a big problem area for low oil pressure problems at idle and can cause near 0psi readings.

usual symptoms of this o-ring blowout are:

20-30 psi or more at idle when cold
oil pressure slowly drops to near 0psi at idle as the engine warms to operating temperature
will build near or up to normal oil pressures at cruising RPMs

Correct...
1. 20-30 psi at idle when cold.
2. Oil psi slowly drops to zero psi at idle when engine is warm.
3. Builds to NEAR normal psi at cruising rpms. (40-45 psi)

Thanks a bunch guys. I try not to ask something that'll get me burned, but still ask my specific question. Now that it sounds like what I hoped it wasn't, is there a detailed write-up on the seal change somewhere here or elsewhere on the net. I'd love to search the entire net for another 12 days, but's it sometimes gets a little discouraging, finding sites that say my TII has a 4 cylinder. Maybe Im searching in the wrong places. Thanks again folks.
