HAVE ONE CAT... IF gut will ACTUATORS WORK?

hey guys the second owner of my car did a piece of **** job on the exhaust. I have a 1988 GXL, anyways Im experiencing some shaking and i cant go past 4000 rpms in 4th gear. I can go past 5k on 1st and 2nd gear so i dont think is the engine. It might be the fuel filter ( even though is only 2 months old) it might be the fuel pump filter, teh engine mounts. ETC... any ideas? Also I was thinking maybe something is clogged on teh piece of crap exhaust. The past owner cut the front tube of the original exhaust then welded it a cusco cat which looks old as hell then the y pipe and 2 mufflers. All the welding is rusted and seems to be rusty holes everywhere the conections were welded on. If i gut that cat which is my only one. 1. will my actuators stop working? 2. How much torque will i loose 3. will it improve at all this shakng crazziness. ( I want flames since im running Premix ), LONG LIVE THE FLAMERS!

You are probably right about the cat being clogged.
The aux port actuation without the cat is not certain, but they should still function with standard mufflers.
I would gut the cat.

It all depends on the net backpressure from the rest of your exhaust system.
From your description, they should still work.
