Smile 1989 GTUS Value

Hi Folks
I'm try to find documentation showing the value of an RX7 GTUS.

It was destroyed in the SAn Diego fire.

The car was in great shape mechanically, paint job good as was interior.

I've searched internet & can't find any info. showing an actual value amount.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx, Judy

If you're talking about the value of the car before it was in the fire, go to Kelly Blue Book. When you're at the home page click on Private Party value, then fill out the specifics of the car. If you are looking for the dealer trade-in value then click that on the home page, instead of Private Party, and fill out the specifics.

miles, condition???

A 89 GTUs in California with 100,000 miles (average) and in Good condition (Some normal wear but no major mechanical or cosmetic problems) and with air conditioning is:

Trade in: $3,170
Private party sale: $3,915
Dealer retail: $5,168

That is based on dealer sales and private party vehicle registrations, as well as asking value in sale ads (such as auto trader, or the newspaper).

Sorry to hear about your loss, I lost a 88 GTU in the fire at Scripps Ranch myself.

And just as a comparison for other board members, a 89 GTU in CA in Good condition with 100K miles and air is:

Trade in: $2,273
Private party $2,981
Dealer retail: $4,173

So the GTUs models are typically $1000 more.

Yo,

Bummer, my condolences.

If you have the mileage, that would help with the value.

Let me know if you have any pictures and we can put it up on the www.teamgtus.com website for a kind of remembrance page.

Again, sorry to hear about it...hope your family/friends/pets/house are okay!

Yo,

Well, Dana (Rotary Racer) is working on it. The problem is, he's Gearhead like me. He'd rather be wrenching on RX-7's than wrenching on the virtual RX-7. Dana has been crazy busy lately working on my car, working on his donor car, working on his GTUs, working on his woman's car, selling parts, buying parts...blah blah blah.

If there are any GTUs owners that are webmasters, or RX-7 owners that enjoy coding websites...let us know! Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

I am sorry for the loss of your car. The GTUs is a special car that touches every one who drives it. I hope that you and your family are ok.

Like said before, mileage might help to estimate how much your car is worth. But your looking anywhere from 3k - 5k depending on the condition it was in before it burned down.

And to every one else yeah yeah I have been a lazy bastard . But seriously I have done some more work to the sight in regards to getting a picture gallery up and running. Unfortunately it looks like I might have to switch providers to do what needs to be done. I am using a cheesy gallery software now, but I want to use a better one. This better one requires me to have Shell access. Our provider will not give this to me. Check it out. http://www.teamgtus.com/gallery/

Hi folks
I do appreciate your quick responses.
The car's exterior & interior were in good shape.

The car was in great mechanical shape. We autocrossed it & had done suspension modifications- shocks,
springs,front sway bar.

Mileage about 140k.

The car ran very smooth & handled great. Previously, we had autocrossed a 1st gen. GSL SE, 1 with power steering & 1 without. I prefer the power steering because of it's quicker turning.

This car for me was a whole lot better in terms of performance-no doubt. It was a fun car to drive & we were just getting it dialed in for setup for our local autocross class.

We had stock wheels & 17" wheels for autocross use.

This car was turning into an awesome car-ratz!!!

I've checked bluebook-it shows maximum value of $3500-. As there were only a few thousand made I know the value ought to be higher.

If we can show anything re: the higher value that will be of great help.

Thanx for your help, Judy

Burnt GTUS

We might be able to come up with before & after pictures. Nothing left but the exterior frame, plus something resembling a seat frame.

Wheels were melted & looked like mercury.

Thanx again, Judy

I don't think I could handle seeing pictures of that. *sniff sniff*

Sorry about your loss. Sounds like you really enjoyed the car.

I checked Kelly Blue book and it calls $4,050 for a 89 GTUs with 140K on it in San Diego county.

Are you sure you checked GTUs and not GTU?

Again there is about a $1000 mark up right now for the GTUs over the GXL and GTU.

GTUS Value

Sounds like I need to recheck Bluebook again.
I just found out from MazdaComp that there were only 200 of the cars made.

This is turning into quite a hunt for info.

I do appreciate all your responses & words of concern.

Yep, I absolutely enjoyed driving the car on the street & autocross. It handled very smoothly & responsively.

I'll sure miss the car.

Thanx for help, Judy

1989 GTUS Value

Hi folks
Well, I just got the final offer from insurance company for $3100-.

I told person I wanted to do more research for cars for sale. Seems that as the car was on salvage title the total value was reduced by %30.

So I'll keep looking for one for sale.

Thanx for your input.
