hatch water drainage question

I was wondering if FCs usually had only one of the holes open for water to drain.. because mine has a plastic plug in the driver's side, and it looks like that's the way it came from the factory. Water pools there a little on that side though, I think it would be better if both sides were draining...

do you guys have the plug?

I do not, but I think mine is plugged though, water takes forever to drain through that side, not sure on how to try to unclog it either though. My passenger side one is fine though, works good, which is weird cause when I bought the car it was the passenger side that was clogged and the driver side was fine, not the other way around......

i allso dont have the plug. and a good tool to un plug the drain is like a coat hanger or something. but be carefull you dont wanna rip the tube. but they do clog easlly. both of mine were clogged when i got the car. thats all it takes is something to free all the crap thats in there. good luck let me know if that helps.

The driver's side on mine was plugged, and I couldn't clear it out. Turned out to be a screw that somehow got in there and blocked the tube solid. I wound up taking the tube out to clear it. Works perfectly now. You have to take out the interior panel behind the drain hole, and then there's a squeeze clamp holding the tube on. Then just pull it up and out. If you have a compressor, you can try blowing back UP the tube to clear it, (with the hatch up) but put a big towel over the hole, or you may get a real mess inside the car.

the best way to unclog is with pressurized air !
a coat hanger might break the plastic tube!

Both should be open and free of any debris. Clean that out because if you don't you could possibly get rust back there. Good luck

There should be an open hole on each side that allows drainage.

If the lines are pluged they should be cleaned, or rust will start under the hatch seal, and leakage can occur into the car.

Mine were clogged up so I just went to low's and bought about Five feet of hose and just replaced it it is not hard to do and is easier than trying to unclog the hose that is in the car now you don't have to worry about ripping the hose

Make sure both drains are free'd up. Otherwise you'll get standing water, then rust.

If one is clogged (leaves, dirt etc.) just get something long, and poke it down there. I cleaned mine, and I have no idea how soil got in there. It looked like a core sample from a garden!

Run a hose over the closed hatch when you're done and you should see a steady thick pencil sized stream flowing from just behind the rear wheels.

k, thanks guys. I'm not saying the hole is clogged from debris, it looks like someone put a plastic plug in one side to prevent water from going down. I'll have to pull off the interior trim and see if the line is still there.
