Hatch Removal
Something so simple, and I've searched. Without a long aggrevating story, I need to remove the hatch. I'm going to remove the nuts under the hatch, but my question is the heater wires and the small maybe 8" box they run through. I've disconnected the wire from the grid, but does that "box" get removed or is there a way to open it up?
TIA
TIA

Thanks for the reply, but no, not the light box.
The rear window/hatch heater wires come out of the weather stripping on each side, are coiled, then run through a support/box on each side of the upper hatch, then to the heater grid connection.
How to get the wires out of the support/box, or does the box get removed?

No, the one to the heater grid.
I've worked on cars for decades, have a NHRA comp license, and have a wire driving me nuts. I could just tear into it, but as the car is pristine, I want to tread lightly.
The one on the strut rod is for the wiper motor.

If you don't want to touch the grid wiring on the window part of the hatch then Remove the Strut bolts on the B pillars and also the top part of the seat belt assembly(16mm bolt).
the plastic can then be removed and there is a Connector on the side of the pillar that you can access and disconnect the wiring that goes to the heater grid on the hatch.,Then you can take the hatch along with it's wiring off as one unit.
The rear roof trim at the back can come off and you can undo the headliner enough to access the 12mm bolts for the hatch hinges.
If need be PM me,If you want to go head to head by phone.I'll give you my contact and you can call me about this.(long distance though)..I've taken off more hatches than Captain Nemo!
