it has happened several times, at first i didnt know the cause, it was the clutch fan.
switched to electric and then my relay burned down. few times overheating was pretty severe, coolant came out of the overflow tank and i heard boiling inside the engine.
It had only about 2k kilometers on it, but i still lost the engine due to no oil pressure caused by a missing woodruf key from the e-shaft( what i even didnt find inside the engine), but the coolant seals were like new, no sign of overheat

The guy I purchased my tii off(s5 wtih the useless coolant gauge) pegged the gauge twice I know of drifting and one other time when the upper rad bust while he was driving cross country. This engine had been rebuilt a few years ago, but I have no idea what coolant seals are in it. I have to agree with Rotary Evolution though, if the seals arent 20 years old they seem to hold up ok.

Since purchasing the car I put a dual pass koyo in with the stock mechanical fan, and replaced the t-stat, water pump, both rad hoses and all 3 heater hoses...cause I doubt it would survive too many more overheats.
