Has anyone worn out an engine running purely premix?
I was pondering this last night as I was putting yet more miles on my FC.
How long will a properly maintained engine running premix last? I know that most NAs quit somewhere between 120k & 150k miles, but that a well maintained engine can push over 200k miles before wearing out. That's with the stock oil injection system.
Premix being a better lubrication method, it would make sense that the engines would last longer before wearing out.
I know Wayne is eagerly awaiting ripping his pure premix engine apart to measure seal wear & figure out how long it would last, but I was curious to see if there was any evidence of actual failures.
So, has anyone just plain worn out an engine that has been running premix since it was put together? And, if so, how long did it last, and what kind of parts did you use (specifically, what apex seals, and were the housings new/used)?
