Has anyone put a Turbo Kit in a 86 GXL fc?
I wanted to know, If anyone has put a turbo kit in a 86 GXL? I have done some research, Most say it's a was of time. Better to use the higher model fc's motors. Since i live on a remote island (Kauai) in the middle of the pacific. It's hard to find use fc's of any type. What i'm asking is has anyone done it, Which one did you buy/use turbo kit, Where to find it. And is it worth it? Are you happy with the way the car performs? Thanks for your help.

I'm just asking has anyone done it thats all, I know all about swapping/dropping in a turbo motor. Is better and such, But? This car is not common down here, So looking in and junk yard, Or taking a trip to some local motor shop. Is a waste of time. I can't drive from state to state, Buying or picking up parts. Like most of you. Beside this is not a waste of a tread. If you don't want to help because it's been cover a million times before then don't. Easy as that!

If you'd searched then you'd know the answer to your own questions.
YES ITS BEEN DONE BEFORE. But the NA motor can't handle boost like the turbo motors can. Stick a turbo on your motor and see how long it takes to pop. No junkyards? Well tough luck because once you pop your motor, then what?
Yeah, it sucks to live in Hawaii when it comes to parts. I didn't say get a turbo motor from the junkyard. Buy a jspec and have it shipped to you.

Thats not a bad idea, Hmm thanks! I'm leaving for japan next month, Will be there for shopping and hanging out with friends. I'll keep my eye out for Japan spec motor. Or better yet, Might just pick me up a Jspec FC. Depends on the paper work. Not worried about cost, New research Legal fee's to ship/own jspec car. What does it take! Thanks for opening my eyes. Now i'm going go ride my gixxer. And take a crap load of fresh air, Clear skys and all.

I was just thinkin that!!!
And yes, you can easily turbo your NA, but with all the money you would spend in shipping for all the parts to get there, you might as well order a J-spec, find a fellow Hawaiian to rebuild it (I think there is ONE) and go to town.
Good Luck, nice knowin ya.

nope nobody has ever done it, not even a guy named Aaroncake.
searching for Turbo-NA won't help you either and looking several posts down on the first page is useless so don't even bother.
I suggest you get rid of your FC by driving it into a volcano and offering it as a sacrifice to the rotary Gods.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
No such thing as a Turbo kit for a non turbo, but if you check the FAQ for FC sticky thread, found at the top of this section... it has a whole turboing a non turbo section.
