Has anyone put an RX-8 6-Speed Tranny
i heard a few people have put in miata 6speeds i cant remeber if it is the same as the rx8 box or not. would be nice to have a newer tranny in these cars but i duno how much an extra gear would help acceleration and whatnot.

i thoiught it was the same bolt pattern,.. The tranny is of the shelf, but its not in the 350z, its in the miata, the rx8 and the lexus is200 (not 300) The trans is actually pretty weak, rx8 ppl are blowing trans allready. Just because the internals are off the shelf doesnt mean they cant slap a bellhousing on it. you dont really expect an is200, miata and rx8 to all share the smae bolt pattern do you?
The Renesis has the same bolt pattern for the transmission bell housing:

I was thinking about this a couple of weeks ago. Seeing the add's on thepartstrader only fueled this
However, if your browse the rx8 forums, you will find far to many thread's regarding problems with the 6speed's such as having going into gears 1st or 3rd gear easily, or at all
reading a few of thoes made me change my mind

also ive read of atleast 3 of them blowing up allready, needing complete replacment. The rx8 is a couple hundred pound heavier though but i think a T2 would kill it quickly still.

Stock S4 RX-7 Turbo: 183 ft-lb
Stock S5 RX-7 Turbo: 196 ft-lb
Stock RX-8: 159 ft-lb
Longterm I wouldn't trust an RX-8 gearbox behind a modded Turbo, especially if they're breaking already.

Horsepower gives you the speed to hit the wall--Torque gives you the strength to move it
hmm, well then...sounds like my wussy N/A engine would be an ideal candidate for an RX-8 tranny.
So why don't you guys send one my way, and I'll do all the testing for you!
Actually, within a year, I'm sure you'll be able to find RX-8 trannies in good shape in a junkyard somewhere.
