That seems like the same unit that comes standard on the old starions. And they just failed at life.

looks like an interesting setup - I doubt anyone has done that before....

So that unit will be wired in place of the logicon and mounted out of sight, and then your in-glove-box-cpu will control it? very slick - good luck

All that unit is, is a blower controller with a air condition tempature circuit that needs a PC to actually change the temp of the air.

It would not replace a logicon as it does not control air flow locations on input or output or heat.

It does about half the features of a Logicon. Only air condition, and blower speed, and rear defrost.

That is what I thought at first before I talked to the guy and read the rest of the manual

There is a MODE control that says it can control the vent position with the use of servos.

SOFTWARE:

The software is very simple and made in Vb6 the software has the following buttons

Fan

Controls the fan speed when pressed the fan speed moves from Hi Med Low if the AC button is on moves to Auto.

AC

Switches on and off the cooling compressor when the compressor is on the Red led glows on the unit and when it’s on standby it blinks. The fan shall go to the Auto mode only when this button is on.

ON

This is the main button when its pressed it switches on the unit. Without pressing this button first no other button will perform. Even the exit button will not perform if this button is active, as the unit has to be switched off before you can exit the software.

…..6
-: 6 : -

EXIT

Well name says it all. This button shall be active only when the on button is not highlighted.

RECIRCULATION

Controls the re circulation servo. When not highlighted the internal circulation is on so the servo has to be set accordingly.

MODE

Controls the vent positions each press shall change the position and display the current position. IMP when pressing the mode button be gentle give the servo time to complete its movement before moving it to another position.

REAR DEFROST

Simple on and off

HEAT DOWN

Shall move the heat servo to one step lower from the current position. If already in the lowest position then nothing happens.

HEAT UP

Shall move the heat servo to one step higher from the current position. If already in the highest position then nothing happens

TEMP DOWN

Changes the preset compressor cutoff temp when pressed the display will show the preset temp and shall move one deg lower min 16deg.

TEMP UP

Changes the preset compressor cutoff temp when pressed the display will show the preset temp and shall move one deg higher max 30deg.

inflatablepets WHY?? My logicon works just fine.

To open up that area for a hidden switch panel. right now space is at a premium. I have no more room left in the car between the amps, 30 band EQ, computer, power inverter, power distribution center, lighting controls, haltech, two batteries, 14" monitor in the GC, and 5 cubic foot box that holds my 2 JL 12W7 subs. I can fit a small Asian girl in the remaining space if I am lucky. Just kidding passenger will be in complete comfort. and able to play Xbox or even surf the web while we drive.

And I thought my "coat hanger temp control" was high tech.

What's wrong with the stock Logicon? And why would you want to get into your glove box while driving to change the temp?

I think he's looking to have ALL the electronic functions of his car controlled by an onboard computer in his glovebox....

By you asking these questions - I take it you HAVE'NT seen his project have you?

Ah, I see that now after I read through.. he just has a bad schematic for wiring.

Not sure how our 12 volt servos would work on 5 volts though. Maybe they would just move SSSSSsssllllllloooooowwwww.

Explain why this isn't a step back into the dark ages? Really, open the glove box to turn the a/c on? Or the fan up? Something is missing here in the way of logic.

In this very thread I discussed removing the logicon and placing a hidden switch panel there. So please read before you flame.

This unit can be controled by remote, and I also am hoping to route this through my Stereo Navigation unit that has a touch screen I just need to figure out if I can use it as a "terminal" I know it can be used as a monitor but I need to read the manual on the stereo and havent gotten that far yet. If not then I need to get a 6" touch screen to mount in the visor, Then I wont have to open the GC and pull out the monitor and play with the mouse while driving.

Or switch the NAV screen to monitor and use the mouse but either way I can control fan and temp via remote supplied with unit.

Very valid points, but I don't think the motivation behind this is to make it easier or more convient so much as it is to make things more concise and add wow factor, the guy has a polished tranny for cryin out loud....thats wow factor, this just adds to it.

Thanks for the support.

I know I wasnt very clear in the abilities of this unit but it is remote controlled so no matter what I will not have to do anything crazy to change the temp just push a button on my master remote (controls stereo, windows, fuel door, hatch, hood, alarm, sunroof, and now AC/heat, it also currently controls my 3 tvs, 2 vcrs, DVD, cable, CD player, lights in my living room etc.)

I was thinking of removing and simplyfying mine, so I could fit some gauges in there

IE: using dials.
