It was the first new car I ever had. I made a deal for one in the showroom, but just as I was about to sign, I noticed a very tiny ding. Just then a truck arrived carrying 3 more. So, I got one off the truck with 0 miles.

It's been the best buy of my life so far, other than my house.

Thats awesome that its given ya all these years of enjoyment. I was a tike when you got that car too! I would have been 3 or so. I just got my vert about 2 weeks ago and the original owner treated like a baby and its almost perfect. It even still has that nice fresh new car smell to it. I owned 2 fb's and loved them both but theres something about this car that makes me think i wont ever get rid of it. Its the perfect blend of luxury, class and sports car for me whereas the fb's were rough riding and loud and just raw which i like too just not on a daily basis. I envy ya for having her so long. Any pictures?

Most bypassers ask me what it is because they "have never seen one", they are shocked when I tell them it is almost 17 years old.

Over the years, I have bought and sold other cars. And each time I thought about selling the Vert, I could't pull the trigger.

Right after I purchased my Touring, I went to the store, purchased a sign, and put it on my car in the driveway.

Five minutes later I ripped it up.

That was five years ago.

First Vert I bought was in 92. It was a nice black 91 model one that I picked up for a steal. My older brother inherited it from me when my car collection got too large to manage.

Second Vert I bought was in 98. It was a 90 Red model that I bought from my buddy who is a used car salesman and new I wanted one if he could get one at auction. My younger brother inherited this one for me when I had to move cross country and couldn't figure out how to move 4 cars and 2 motorcycles in one trip. He still has hte car.

Third Vert I bought February 14,2005 for my wife. It is a red 1991 that has 22,500 miles on it. My new 2004 VW TDI has more mileage than my 91 Vert which is now up to 24,000 miles. This one is a keeper and in exactly 3 years it will receive a Corvette V8 with a six speed tranny and my kid brother will get the engine to replace his with. I want something that gets 30 mpg on the highway and can smoke a honda civic. My Vert has trouble keeping up with mopeds here at 7100 feet in Colorado.

Thumbs up

That thing is gorgeous especially for having that kind of mileage on it! Mines an 88 with 96k original miles and its bone stock. It still has the stock deck and everything worked, no crackling or anyhting and the cd player still works. Its black with charcoal leather and its mint. I get compliments on it all the time and ive only had it 2 weeks. My only gripe is that my clutch is slipping now but i can handle that. Everything else on the car is 100%. I like urs, those wheels gave it a nice look.

Excellent!

Original Engine?

I'd like to see that longevity... I am close, but since my clutch needs to come out soon, I am thinking about pulling the engine too.

Thanks. It is time for me to polish and wax it this weekend. I look forward to that.

I like the wheels, but they are too heavy. But for a car that I only cruze in... they are not too bad (17's)

Spring is here, although it is a great year round car. I am looking forward to a nice long trip somewhere.

Enjoy, post your pics when you can.

Later.

After a clutch and engine. I'd like to drive out to the west coast. I worked in Denver for a few weeks once and enjoyed the town, but I was hobbled by a rental car.

Sharp! After looking at your interior, I think i need a new carpet - and a bit of fine cleaning.

Had my ninety vert since 98. Had 72k when I bought it, now 115k. Ive done everything I can to it pretty much UNTIL the engine goes, then I may streetport it or do a V8 swap.

Actually mine wasnt that clean when i got it. I used a combination of carpet cleaners and a bristled brush and scrubbed till it got clean. Also theres a die that autozone sells that looks identical to the color of our carpets. I didnt have to use it on this one but my buddy did on his and it looked brand new.

What brand of cleaner did you use? Did it work well on the door pockets too?
