Has anyone followed in Icemarks footsteps?
In the process of slowly restoring this S5 GTU i've been posting about..back in the day I used to send my switches to Icemark to get repaired..I was just curious as to if anyone on the boards does this as well?

I guess I'd also be curious to know what happened to Icemark. I've been on this forum for almost 4 years now and I don't think I've come across a thread about it (granted, I haven't searched for it). There was Guitar Dave? or something like that who died in a car accident that I've seen a few threads on before.

That would explain the lack of response to my PM. So I guess since no one on the forums actively does it, that means I have to resort to finding replacements
i do it also, there's a few people who do the repairs. more now than back then in fact.
the largest issue now, is actually finding switches that have housings that aren't broken to hell.

I've rebuilt my own headlight switch. I just have never done it for anyone else.
Been meaning for years to rebuild my wiper switch, just never get around to it.
I know how to fix the CPU, I just haven't done that either. The cpu isn't just cold solder joints either, it goes deeper than that.
I should offer the service really. Anyone need a headlight switch fixed?

for the headlight you simply have to desolder the header pins on the furthest side of the board from the plug in connector. the headlight switch really is the biggest pain to rebuild because it's so easy to damage the board or the housing during desoldering. my first problem was neither of the above though, i managed to crack the dimmer board on my first attempt.

I had to pull the casing apart but didn't have to gut the switch. I had to repair a trace relating to the parking lights because it fried. Getting the cluster surround off without removing the steering wheel was scarier than taking the switch apart.
