Has anyone done this to GXL wheels?

Alright, so I have some black GXL wheels that the previous owner painted (as you'll see in the pics), has anyone decided to strip the lip and sand it down and polish it? Any pics of wheels done like this?

I think it woulf turn out allright. Even though I think those wheels look terrible painted black in the first place.
Off topic: Why does your GXL sit so high??? Looks like a tank. But very nice paint by the way, I wish mine was that shiny

I've seen those wheels done the way the OP describes and I don't think it works out all that well since the lip is very small. That wheel just doesn't look right in anything other then the stock silver.

Guess Ill give it a shot and instead of doing just the lip, the whole wheel. I'll post pics of the progress!

I actually like the look of those black painted GXL wheels
Now I'm thinking about doing it to my GXL project. It looks good to me especially since it has a black wing and exterior trim.

I personally think they would look good in a darker gunmetal grey.
